August 2004

Can
you believe it? We raised close to 300.00 for the club at our meeting in July!
Kevin did a great job entertaining us and Bro. Dave joined him for some great
tunes! And who knew BobRob was such a great auctioneer? A great time was had by
all! Thanks to Stacey and Anne for providing us with a great place to meet and
great complimentary appetizers!

Christy, Rosie, Gene, Billy and NaNa at the July meeting at Stacey’s Bistro
Never
a dull moment when the Sandlappers get together for a party! The camping party
at Lake Wateree was great fun! Thanks again to Roger for allowing us to party at
his place and thanks to Brother Dave and the rest of The Slippy Rock Band for
providing great entertainment! Cheryl cooked breakfast for us both mornings and
did a heck of a job too!
The
Bloody Mary's and Baileys and Coffee were
flowing freely. Of course if you are an Allen or a James you start the morning
with a Bud Light! No fru fru drinks
for those folks!! Saturday night brought a terrible storm but, do you think that
stopped some of the crowd from partying? No Way! After helping the band put away
their gear, a
lot of the crowd partied through the night while tents and canopies flew
everywhere! By the way, thanks to whomever saved my Monkey chair!

Peter
Mayer CD release Party in Nashville
Peter
Mayer’s new CD “Music Box” was released in June. Charlie, Debbie and Mary
picked up Gail Weams in Ashville and made the trip to Nashville to attend the
release party and concert. It was a great show and we had a great time. Charlie
did the Music Row Crawl, shared a room with three women and lived to tell about
it! We all had a blast. We’re
thinking Music City would be a great road trip for the Sandlappers….any
takers?
“License
to Chill” debuts at #1!
For
the first time in thirty years, as a recording artist, Jimmy Buffett had an
album debut at #1! “License to Chill” sold 239,000 copies in the first week!
Way to go Mr. Buffett!

Drink
of the month:
Thanks
to Gene for this recipe.
Chocolate
cake or pie
1shot
of quality Vodka
1shot of Frangelico
chilled glass rimmed with sugar
orange wedge
Chill vodka and Frangelico over ice
strain into glass rimmed with sugar.
Place orange slice on rim. Drink as a shot…sugar, liquor, then orange. Great
Drink and tastes exactly like Chocolate!
But,
be careful it sneaks up on you and makes you extremely honest!
“Charlie
says I can never have this drink again!”
