Member Profile
I’m Nickie George I have
lived in Rock Hill most of my life. I did have a short stay in Fort Mill after
my separation. Which tell you that I’m divorced now. I have two grown sons
(if your children are ever grown). Chris is married and lives in Greenville SC
and Andy who is not married and lives in Charlotte.
I have an accounting degree from USC and a MBA from Winthrop. I worked for
Springs for thirty-three years, but my position was eliminated at the end of
July. I’m currently looking for a new position and hope to stay in the area
or move down to Charleston. I have a condo on Kiawah Island and was planning
to move there in few years anyway, so Springs is giving me a chance to do it
sooner.
Things people don’t know about me: I’m Greek. Both sets of grand parents
came over from Greece. I’m pretty handy around the house. I have an older
home in Rock Hill that I have been working on for three years (I’m in no
hurry). I enjoy doing much of the work myself. I have been a soccer referee
for over fifteen years and have referred on the college level. I was named SC
High School referee of the year in 2001. I still referee high school and
select soccer. I read a lot and John McDonald is my favorite author. Most of
his novels take place around the ocean and beaches. I’m also trying to learn
to play the piano, which nobody will hear me play, but it does help keep the
mind going.
I have always been a fan of Jimmy Buffett. More his life style, or appearance
of life style, than his music. Larry Vaughn and Charlie got me involved in the
SLPH club about two years ago. My favorite song is “The Pascagoula Run”. I
can see myself as the “crazy uncle in the red convertible”.
Adopt a Highway
Please mark your
calendars for Saturday, March 6th as we prepare to head back to Gold Hill Road
to pick up trash for our Adopt a Highway commitment. We will meet in the parking
lot of Knight's Castle (just off of Gold Hill Road east of I-77) at 10:30 AM.
The more help we have...the less time it takes. Mary will have vests and gloves.
Please come out and help!

Christmas Party
The Caribbean Cowboys put on a great show for our Christmas
party! Over seventy people attended the party at The Field Trial Barn in Fort
Mill on Saturday December 6, 2003. And, as usual, Rick did a great job with
the BBQ and the deep fried turkeys! Our next big party will be the
Anniversary party in March. Stay tuned for details!
Anniversary Party
