2004….Year in Review

What a year! 2004 was a very busy year for The Sandlapper Parrothead Club. We had a yard sale, worked Knights Castle Ball games, had our Anniversary party and an Oyster Roast in March, while the Rum Punch Bandits entertained us at Beacon Knoll Club house. A great time was had by all.  Some of our members served on The Parrotstock Board of Directors and we had a GREAT Parrotstock in June! We had a few fundraisers for fellow club member Billy James, worked Adopt-A-Highway 3 times, had our Endless Carnival (pajama) Party in September with Erik Smith and The Rusty Gray Band entertaining us at The Field Trial Barn in Fort Mill! Many of us attended Meeting of The Minds in Key West and we closed the year out with a great Christmas Party at Beacon Knoll. Jon Durham and his Band was there to entertain us! Many arrived at the party in limo, we had food from Wild Wing Café and The Olive Garden and commemorative T-Shirts were given to all who came to the party. Thanks to club member, Sandi Alman, for hosting a great Christmas Party! 46 toys were donated for our toy drive.

Thanks to everyone who donated their time to help those less fortunate than ourselves and to help our club continue the tradition of “Partying with a Purpose”!

Club Elections

The Sandlapper Parrothead Club will hold Elections for officers in March. If you are interested in running for President, Vice President, Secretary or Treasurer please let Mary know. The email address is mlfanalyst@aol.com. Deadline to announce your candidacy is the February 8th.

Key Lime Martini

One shot of good vodka

A splash of pineapple juice and a splash of lime juice. Shake well over ice and strain into a Martini glass. Garnish with lime or pineapple. It’s really great!

Membership Renewals

Just a reminder…January is the month that we renew memberships. If you joined after September 2004 you do not have to pay your renewal until January ’06.  Please send your club dues to:

or give club Treasurer Cheryl Howell a check before January 31st. The dues as of January ’05 are 25.00 for Single renewal and 45.00 for a family renewal.

* Buffett has been nominated for a Grammy in the category of
Country Collaboration With Vocals. Here are all of the nominees:

* Buffett will play a surprise show in Asheville Tuesday, Jan. 11, at the new Cheeseburger in Paradise Restaurant, organizers said Monday. All proceeds will benefit the Eblen Foundation, which last week quietly sold 260 tickets - each priced at $250.

 * Buffet has been given land on a South Pacific island after discovering one of his sea-faring ancestors was one of the first Westerners to live there in the 19th century. Buffett, himself a keen sailor, was given the land on Norfolk Island while he was tracing his family history. The singer discovered that one ancestor, John Buffett, gave up his career as a whaler when he discovered Pitcairn Island and swam ashore to join many of the mutineers from the HMS Bounty.

* Buffett will be on the Ellen Degeneres show January 10th. 

* Buffett has been nominated for Favorite Country Male Singer in the 2005 People's Choice Awards. The show will air on CBS January 9th at 9PM.
