The April 1999 issue of Channel Magazine, an upstart South Bleach (Miami), Florida periodical, has named Jimmy one of South Florida's 25 most accomplished men. They cited his 31 albums; retail stores; restaurants/bars; his books, his being only the sixth person in history to hit the number one position on the NY Times best Seller List in both fiction and non-fiction; his Singing For Change (SFC) Foundation, which, over the last few years, has donated more than $3 million to various social and environmental causes; and Don't Stop The Carnival, his collaborative effort with Herman Wouk, earned a Carbonell Award for Best New Work.
