Havana Reality

A group of 30 to 35 American pop and rock musicians will spend March 21st - 28th in Havana collaborating with Cuban musicians, culminating in a concert at the Karl Marx Theater. The concert will be the first such event in Cuba since the 1979 Havana Jams which included the likes of Billy Joel, Rita Coolidge and Kris Kristofferson. The project is being organized by Alan Scott, an LA based songwriter who is the founder of the non-profit organization Music Bridges Around The World. "The reason I'm doing this is the same reason I did it in Russia," Scott said. "We all share the same planet. Music is a great communicator, and it reaches a level that transcends everything else. TM American musicians participating in the concert are Jimmy Buffett, Stewart Copeland and Andy Summers of The Police, the Indigo Girls, Mick Fleetwood, Peter Buck of REM, Joan Osborne and music producer Don Was. Similar projects have been assimilated by Scott in Bali, Romania Ireland and the aforementioned former Soviet Union.
